“Abolish Unreasonable School Rules” Project

This project was initiated by concerned volunteers who felt compelled to act after learning about a high school student who became unable to attend school due to the psychological distress caused by being forced to dye her naturally brown hair black. As various unreasonable school rules have come under public scrutiny, this case highlighted the urgency of addressing such issues.

The project aims to eliminate irrational school rules that have persisted for many years and to promote broader social dialogue about creating schools where children can learn and thrive without anxiety.

Led by Chiki Ogiue, the initiative has produced a comprehensive report documenting these issues. The Murakami Family Foundation has provided funding support for both the report’s creation and the project’s launch costs.
