NPO Sodateage Net (Youth Support)

Currently, approximately 2,750 young people are housed across 51 juvenile training schools in Japan. Enhanced collaboration with external organizations, both during and after detention, is expected to reduce the current recidivism rate of about 11%, prevent future victims, and help graduates achieve independence and social integration.

While juvenile training schools are exploring optimal ways to collaborate with external organizations, CRESCENDO WORK (Sodateage-net) currently provides employment support for juveniles after their release, as well as offering computer training and educational support programs within the facilities. To further advance these collaborative efforts, it is crucial to identify partnership models that align with and enhance the correctional education goals of juvenile training schools.

The Murakami Family Foundation has provided funding support for research to examine the effectiveness of these collaborative approaches.
